Obituary for Catherine Ann Bennett Silverstein

Catherine Ann Bennett Silverstein
Bennett Silverstein, Catherine Ann (Cathy) March 26, 1959-Sept. 12, 2014
With great sadness we announce Catherine’s sudden passing in St. Alban’s, Vermont. She leaves her three children, Rob Rappolt, Catrina and Levi Silverstein, and partner Mike Curtis. She is the much-loved daughter of Bob and Ann Bennett of Campbellford, and sisters Susan (Stephen McAllister) and Janet (Colin McKelvie). She will be greatly missed by the extended Bennett, Witthun, Rappolt and Silverstein families. Catherine’s studies of Music and Industrial Relations at McGill were continued through her work with non profit organizations and singing in the church choir. She loved being active outdoors, whether running, skiing, sailing or swimming. When weather forced her inside, cooking, baking and loving others filled her life.
We will remember Catherine’s huge capacity for love (particularly for stray animals!), her effervescent personality, and her tremendous voice. Her wish to be cremated has been fulfilled. A memorial service will be held Wednesday Sept. 24 at 11am at St. John’s United Church, Campbellford, with Rev. Mark Fearnall officiating. Visitation from 10am with a reception in the church hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Westben Arts Festival Theatre, the Campbellford Recreation and Wellness Facility or the Humane Society of Canada. Dying is one of the few events in life that's certain to occur, yet one we rarely plan for. Should we spend more time preparing for a two week vacation than we do our last days on Earth?
