Working for Lois and Elwood for a few weeks in early summer of 1971 is one of the most vivid memories I have as a young teenager. Lois was very busy at the Royal Bank at that time requiring her to be away from home for longer hours and they needed someone to look after their 3 girsl and help with household chores. I became a live-in nanny of sorts. This was quite a bit of freedom for a young farm girl at that time and I reveled in it but also took my charge very seriously. I recall days with the girls at the park, playing games, riding their pony, meeting their neighbour who would become a future teacher and mentor, but mostly being appreicated by Lois for what I could do to help her. She treated me with respect and encouraged me to be responsible for myself and I believe that whole experience contributed to a strong work ethic.
Although I have not seen Lois for many years, I often think of her and that summer. My sympathies to Elwood, Sandra, Janet and Bonnie and their families. May God bless.
