Judy worked with Tibbett & Britten for several years in the Human Resourse team as I did. It was a time when we as a company were growing at a rapid pace and we all worked at top speed and spent what little energy we had left over laughing up a storm.
Soon after (barely a couple of weeks) Judy had joined our mad dpartment we had a meeting and discussed a departmental video we were going to make for an HR conference. As most people believed HR people did little work we decided to start the video proving the point.
As leader I was director so I cast Judy and wiithout telling her as what --I asked her if she had an old dressing gown and some hair rollers.....yes she nervously said. Good, replied I, bring them tomorrow with a pair of large fuzzy slippers if you have any.
Deat Judy arrived next day and we made her put on the dressing gown, slippers and did her hair up in the curlers, another of the team was filmed playing cards and drinking beer another sun bathing and so on.
During filming, Judy and I wadered off to the smoking room and to get there we had to walk through the rest of the offices. As Judy was new to the company I kept introducing her and people were very gracious and Judy was most embarassed as she was dressed in slippers, curlers and dressing gown. When we finally got to our destination she marvelled at how no one had mentioned one word about her strange attire.
I responded, 'Welcome to HR at Tibbett & Briiteneveryone knows we're mad' and after she had been with us for a couple of years she took all the madness in her stride.
She was a great lady who clearly loved her family so very, very much.
