I often think back to when my family lived in Batawa, though it has been 41 years the memories are still vivid. Upon hearing the news that Mrs. Buck had passed away my thoughts drifted back to a day I think I was walking home from school and obviously doing something that I should not have been doing. When out of the blue Mrs. Buck spotted me and said, "Bronwyn, you know better than that." I was startled and finally sputtered that I did and quickly walked the rest of the way home, thinking that I will be getting it again once my mother finds out. But mom never did because Mrs. Buck she didn't tell her. Mrs. Buck already knew that it takes a village to raise a child and I was lucky enough to be raised in a wonderful place, Batawa.
Today my thoughts go out to Mrs. Buck's family as you mourn the loss of a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and my thoughts drift back to a simplier time.
